4th Gen Mechanical

Our Story

A family of engineers, working for Rochester families.

Our great-grandfather installed the first geothermal system in Rochester. Let us continue that tradition for you.

“My name goes on every job. So does my family’s.”

— Trevon & Gage, Owners & 4th-Generation HVAC Technicians

Four generations

Rochester HVAC since 1948.

Disclosure

4th Gen Mechanical, LLC was formed in December 2023. The family trade in Rochester HVAC spans four generations beginning in 1948. The LLC is new; the craftsmanship isn’t.

My great-grandfather installed the first geothermal system in Rochester. He built a reputation in Monroe County on that kind of work — looking at what a house actually needed and installing it once, properly. Four generations later we still work the same way: show up, do it right, don’t upsell what the house doesn’t need.

Four generations later, the homes are the same but the systems have changed completely. My father trained me on high-efficiency condensing furnaces and ground-source geothermal loops the same way his father trained him: hands-on, no shortcuts, no recommending a system because it’s what fits on the truck. I started understanding load calculations before I had a driver’s license.

My brother Gage and I founded 4th Gen Mechanical, LLC in December 2023 to bring that same standard to the technology that finally makes sense in Rochester winters — cold-climate heat pumps that operate at full capacity down to 5°F, and geothermal systems that tap ground temperature that stays near 50°F year-round regardless of what’s happening outside.

Monroe County homeowners dealing with oil price spikes, aging steam boilers, or houses that have never had cooling have real options now that they didn’t ten years ago. Federal incentives, NYS Clean Heat rebates, equipment that actually works in our winters — the timing is right. Whether it’s a furnace tune-up in Greece or a full geothermal loop install in Pittsford, every job gets the same level of care. My name is on the truck. My family’s reputation is on every system we install.

How we work

What we specialize in.

Quality HVAC for Monroe County — not volume. Four generations of family experience, applied to every heating and cooling project across Rochester.

Energy-efficient systems built for upstate winters

We focus on systems that actually pencil out in Monroe County: geothermal heat pumps, cold-climate air-source heat pumps, high-efficiency condensing furnaces, and hydronic boiler systems. Each technology has its place — we tell you which one fits your house and which one doesn’t.

Education first — pressure last

We don’t sell HVAC; we explain it. Heat pump vs. furnace, single-stage vs. modulating, ductless vs. ducted, geothermal vs. air-source — these are real engineering trade-offs and the right answer depends on your home, not on what’s on the truck. We walk you through the math; you make the call.

Geothermal is the core of what we do

Geothermal isn’t an occasional install for us — it’s the work we choose to do most. The federal 30% credit (locked through 2032), NYS Clean Heat rebates, and stable 50°F ground temperature stack into operating costs no fossil-fuel system can match for Monroe County homeowners.
